Step-by-Step Working Process of the Vacuum Emulsifying Homogenizer

The Working Process of the Vacuum Homogenizer Emulsifying Mixer

The working process of the vacuum homogenizer emulsifying mixer involves several key steps. Below is a general overview of the process; if you want to learn more, please refer to the following article: The Working Principle of the Vacuum Homogenizer Emulsifying Mixer.

Vacuum homogenizer emulsifying mixer working process

Intake and Initial Feeding

The vacuum homogenizer emulsifying mixer first receives raw materials, which typically include liquid ingredients, suspended solids, powders, viscous fluids, and other components. Importantly, the mixture is introduced into the mixing chamber under vacuum conditions—this preliminary vacuum environment prevents external air from being trapped in the material at the start, laying a foundation for subsequent deaeration.

Vacuum Deaeration

Next, the equipment creates a stable vacuum environment inside the mixing chamber to remove air and other gases from the mixture. This step is critical because it helps prevent foaming (which damages product texture, such as causing graininess or froth) and oxidation (which degrades sensitive ingredients like vitamins or active compounds). Both issues would otherwise compromise the quality and stability of the final product.

High-Pressure Homogenization

Once the mixture is in a vacuum state, it is exposed to high pressure generated by a dedicated pump or other professional pressure-generating device. This high pressure acts on the mixture to break down large solid particles (e.g., agglomerated powders) and residual air bubbles, effectively creating a preliminary uniform consistency.

Orifice Passage for Fine Emulsification

The high-pressure mixture then passes through a narrow gap orifice as it exits the mixing chamber. As it flows through this orifice, the mixture experiences a rapid pressure drop—this sudden change triggers cavitation (the formation and collapse of micro-bubbles) and intense shear forces. The end result is the formation of ultra-fine droplets and a more stable, uniform emulsion.

Post-Homogenization Stirring & Emulsion Stabilization

After orifice passage, the equipment’s stirring mechanism continues to mix the emulsified product. This ensures the mixture remains uniform and prevents phase separation (e.g., oil floating on water). The mixer is typically equipped with a spiral stirring blade or a similar high-efficiency design, which optimizes mixing and reinforces the emulsification effect.

Precision Temperature Control

Throughout the entire operation, the vacuum homogenizer emulsifying mixer maintains the desired temperature. Heaters or cooling systems are often integrated into the mixing chamber, allowing temperature adjustment based on the specific requirements of the product (e.g., higher temperatures to melt waxes in cosmetics, lower temperatures to protect heat-sensitive pharmaceutical ingredients).

Discharge and Storage

Once the product reaches the desired consistency and quality (verified by sampling if necessary), the emulsified mixture is discharged from the mixer. It is then transferred to appropriate clean containers or drums for further processing (e.g., adding fragrances or preservatives) or direct packaging.
The vacuum homogenizer emulsifying mixer is a highly versatile piece of equipment, offering efficient mixing, homogenization, and emulsification capabilities for a wide range of products. It is widely used in industries such as food processing (e.g., sauce, dairy emulsion production), cosmetics manufacturing (e.g., creams, lotions), and pharmaceutical production (e.g., oral emulsions, topical ointments)—all fields where precise control over emulsification is essential for ensuring product quality and stability.
